With an early history dating back to the 1800s, many beekeepers originally determined that beekeeping was not sustainable and gave up on the endeavor, while other apiarists were determined to prove that beekeeping in the Rocky Mountains would be successful. Utah’s beekeepers utilized innovative beehive designs and introduced subspecies that were productive, gentle, and more resistant to diseases.
